Thanks for reading, it's so nice when people take the time to read the information we've provided for you, we use our profile to keep in touch with you and to enable you to get to know us a little as people, so it's a little disheartening to get so many messages asking about stuff that's clearly explained in my profile if they'd only bothered to actually read it! So there's a tip for you, reading our profiles properly so you can start the conversation with a little knowledge, rather than asking the same stuff we've answered 10 times today already, makes a great impression on a provider!
Anyway, to the point....
As you may have seen recently in my latest news, I had a bad experience with a house visit where the client kept me waiting ages at the door, messaging me all the while time to say he wouldn't be long, before eventually making an excuse for having to cancel. I don't normally do house calls with new clients or at short notice anyway but had allowed myself to be talked into it as it had been a rough week and he seemed nice enough, so this was a good lesson to listen to my gut. I asked for him to cover my taxi fares at the very least since he thought so little of wasting my time, and he told me I should "suck off the driver" to cover it, and also made a few comments that made it clear that he was watching me. I don't know if I've just been very lucky in the people I've met since I started doing this work, but I have never been spoken to like that, I've never had any reason to feel humiliated or degraded by a client, so this was a complete shock.
Unfortunately, this has shown that I obviously need to be more careful about visiting people at home, which is something I was wary about already. I have decided that I will require a deposit that covers my travel costs at the very least before I will visit someone at home. I know this is a common scammer's technique, asking for deposits, and so may put potential clients off, but this is where I find myself at the moment and the only solution I can think of to enable me to keep offering this service.
